Gift cards
A code, an inbox, and their choice of finish.
Choose the amount, we send the code by email, and they spend it on whatever they would have picked themselves. Nothing to post, nothing to wrap, nothing to get the wrong size.
The facts
How a gift card works.
No plastic, no envelope, no delivery date to worry about. A gift card here is a code that lives in an email and comes off the total at checkout.
| The detail | How it works | In short |
|---|---|---|
| The amount | You choose the value when you buy it — enough for a pack of refills, or enough for the Kit with change left over. | Your choice |
| How it arrives | As a code in an email. Sent to you to forward on, or straight to them. Nothing is posted. | By email |
| When it arrives | Within minutes of the order. Give us a date instead and we hold it until that morning. | Now, or on the day |
| How long it lasts | Valid for [Gift card validity] from the day it is issued, and never shorter than the law where you live allows. | [Gift card validity] |
| Spending it | In one order or across several. Whatever is left stays on the code until it is used. | Part now, part later |
| What it buys | Any pen, the SneakPrint, paper refills or the whole Kit — personalised and engraved orders included. | Everything we sell |
Amounts are in USD. A gift card is a means of payment rather than a discount, so the order it pays for still counts towards free shipping over $50, and it sits happily alongside a promotion. It cannot be exchanged for cash, except where the law where you live requires it. The conditions in full are below.
The conditions
The terms behind the code.
Short, and worth the two minutes before you buy one. These conditions cover gift cards issued by [Company name] and bought through this shop.
Nothing here removes a right the law already gives you. Where the rules in [Country] are more generous than this page, those rules apply.

1What a gift card is
A gift card is a code, delivered by email. There is no plastic card and nothing arrives in the post. The person you give it to enters the code at checkout and its value comes off the total.
Because it is not a physical thing, none of our shipping applies to it: nothing is dispatched, nothing is tracked, and no courier is involved. If you would rather hand something over on the day, print the email. Plenty of people do, and it survives being folded into a real envelope.
2Amounts
You choose the value when you buy it. The amounts we offer are set out on the gift card page — small enough at one end to cover a pack of paper refills, large enough at the other to cover the Kit and leave change.
Gift cards are sold and redeemed in the currency shown at checkout. We do not charge a fee to issue one, we do not sell one for more than its face value, and the balance does not shrink over time.
3How and when it is sent
The code is emailed as soon as the order is confirmed, which in practice means within minutes. Send it to your own inbox if you would like to forward it yourself, or straight to theirs if you would rather it landed on its own.
If it is meant for a particular day, tell us in the order notes and we will hold the email until that morning rather than send it the moment you pay. It is the one part of gifting a code does better than a parcel — no cut-off dates, no courier, no chance of it turning up three days early.
If it has not arrived within the hour, check the spam folder first, then write to [Email]. We can resend it.
4How long it is valid
Each gift card is valid for [Gift card validity] from the day it is issued. The date is written in the email so nobody has to guess.
Where the law in [Country] sets a longer minimum, that longer period applies and nothing in this clause shortens it. If a card runs out with a balance still on it and you write to us within a reasonable time, we will normally reissue it — the point of a gift is that it gets used, not that it is caught out by a date.
5Using it, and the balance left over
Enter the code at checkout and its value comes off the total. You do not have to spend it all at once.
- Spend part of it and the remainder stays on the same code, ready for the next order. The balance is shown at checkout each time.
- Spend more than it holds and the difference is settled by card, or by any other method we accept.
- Use more than one card on a single order, if you have been given more than one.
What we cannot do is hand back the difference in cash. Spend less than the card is worth and the remainder stays where it is, on the code, rather than coming back to you as money.
6With discounts, promotions and free shipping
A gift card is a means of payment, not a discount code, so the two work together rather than cancelling each other out. A promotion comes off the price in the usual way, and the gift card pays whatever is left.
Delivery follows the same logic. Free shipping over $50 is worked out on the value of the order, not on how much of it was settled with a card, so an order of $59 paid entirely by gift card still ships free.
7If the code is lost
Write to [Email] with the order number, or with the email address the card was sent to, and we will resend the code to the address it was issued to. We cannot send it somewhere else, and that refusal is the only real protection a code like this has.
Treat it like cash sitting in an inbox. Anyone holding the code can spend it, and we have no way of telling whether the person using it is the person it was meant for. We are not able to restore a balance that has already been spent, though we can always tell you when it went.
8Refunds and cancellations
A gift card is not refundable for cash, and it cannot be exchanged, resold or transferred for money. Once it is issued, the value stays on the code until it is spent. That is the trade-off for a card that carries no fee and loses nothing to time.
Where the law in [Country] gives you a right to a refund on a gift card — some countries do, for unused balances or within a cooling-off period after purchase — that right stands and we honour it. Ask us, and we will tell you honestly whether it applies to you rather than hope you do not.
Bought one by mistake, or sent it to the wrong address? Tell us within a few days and before the code has been spent, and we will cancel it and issue a new one.
9Orders paid for with a gift card
Returns work exactly as they do for any other order: thirty days to change your mind, two years on faults, and the postage rules set out on that page.
The only difference is where the money goes. Anything paid for with a gift card is refunded back onto that gift card, as a balance to spend again rather than cash. Where an order was part card and part code, each part is refunded the way it was paid.
10Personalised and engraved orders
A gift card covers everything in the shop, personalisation included. The line printed on the first scroll goes in the usual field at checkout, and an engraved Heirloom clip is paid for the same way — there is no part of an order a code cannot settle.
One thing to know before you spend it: personalised items sit outside the thirty-day return window, whoever paid and however. That is set out on the returns page and it applies here too. A fault is still a fault, and the warranty is unaffected.
11The law behind this page
Gift cards are issued by [Company name]. These conditions are governed by [Governing law] and are read alongside our terms of service, which govern the order itself.
Nothing on this page limits your statutory rights as a consumer in [Country]. If any part of it is found to be unenforceable, the rest continues to apply.
12Before this page goes live
A note for whoever runs the shop rather than for the person buying. The buttons on this page point to /products/gift-card, and that product does not exist until it is created in the Shopify admin — a gift card product, with the amounts you intend to sell as its variants. Until it is, the buttons lead to a missing page.
Two placeholders on this page also need real values before it is published: [Gift card validity], which must be at least the minimum period the law in [Country] requires, and the company details in [Company name] and [Email]. Wording written for a shop is a starting point, not legal advice — have it checked before you sell.
Questions about a gift card
Write through the contact page or to [Email] with the order number, and a person will answer — usually within a day. If a code has gone astray, tell us the email address it was sent to and we will find it.
If you think we have handled a gift card badly, our complaints procedure sets out exactly what happens next.
Before you buy one
Gift card questions.
If yours isn't here, write to us — a person answers, usually within a day.
Ask about a gift cardHow quickly does it arrive?
Within minutes of the order, straight to the inbox you give us. Nothing is posted and nothing is tracked, because there is nothing physical to send.
If it hasn't turned up within the hour, look in the spam folder — that is where it is nine times out of ten — and then write to us and we'll resend it.
Can I have it sent on a particular day?
Yes. Put the date in the order notes and we'll hold the email until that morning rather than send it the moment you pay. No cut-off dates, no courier, and no chance of it landing three days early on a shared doormat.
How much should I put on it?
Enough for the thing you think they'd choose. The pen is $39, the SneakPrint printer is $39, a pack of three paper refills is $19, and the Kit — pen, printer and refills together — is $59.
Anything above $50 also covers the delivery, since shipping is free from there up. The comparison page lays the four out side by side.
What if they spend less than the card is worth?
The rest stays on the code. They can come back to it whenever they like — a pen this month, refills next year — and the balance is shown at checkout each time. We don't give change in cash, and we don't take the remainder back.
Does it expire?
It is valid for [Gift card validity] from the day it is issued, and never less than the law where you live requires. If one does run out with money still on it, write to us — we would far rather reissue it than keep a balance nobody got to spend.
Can they use it during a sale?
Yes. A gift card is a way of paying rather than a discount, so a promotion comes off the price first and the card settles what's left. The two never cancel each other out.
I've lost the code.
Send us the order number, or the email address it went to, and we'll resend it to that same address. We can't send it anywhere else, which is the only safeguard a code has.
If it has already been spent we can tell you when — but we can't restore it, so treat it like cash in an inbox.
Can I get my money back on a gift card?
Not as cash. Once it's issued the value stays on the code until it's spent. If the law in [Country] says otherwise for your situation, that law wins and we'll honour it — ask us and we'll tell you straight.
If you've simply bought one by mistake, tell us before it's been spent and we'll cancel it and issue a new one.
Can it be spent on a personalised pen?
Yes — the line printed on the first scroll and the engraving on an Heirloom clip are both paid for like anything else on the order. Worth knowing that personalised items sit outside the thirty-day return window, whoever paid and however.
What happens if they return something they bought with it?
The refund goes back onto the same gift card as a balance, not to a bank account. Everything else about a return is unchanged: thirty days, a prepaid label, and the detail on the returns page.
The last-minute one
Send it in the next five minutes.
Choose the amount, write the note, and the code is in their inbox before you've closed the tab. They pick the finish — you still get the credit.
